Creative Communities Past Projects - Chitty Chitty Bournville

This family theatre project was a crash course in devising a show a loose and humour-spiked take on the familiar family musical. Drama sessions ran during term time and led to a three-day summer holiday workshop that produced and rehearsed the script for the show. The combination of parents and children working together, led by professional artists, was another step on the road for this group to become parent led, using the skills acquired at adult sessions.
When: Summer, Performance 20th August 2011
Where: The Big top at Boomfest, Clarence Park, Weston-super-Mare
Audience: Children and Family
Artists: Stewart Wright (director); Vincenzo Pellegrino (writer, director, actor); Sarah Warren (designer); Fiona Barrow (Musician).
Partners: North Somerset Housing
Review: “I thought it was very, very funny. I thought the interplay between the narrator and the others was great, and asides to the audience like "lets see if they can remember their plan" were hilarious. The staging was well done, and the writing was spot on, and I laughed out loud at the jokes, and the general chaos. Well done to all of them. (But especially the narrator who held it all).
