Creative Communities Past Projects - Festival of Eight

During the summer of 2007 Theatre Orchard Project produced Festival of Eight where theatre professionals worked with local communities to create eight new performance events that took place indoors and outdoors in North Somerset.

Nailsea /Backwell ~ Nowhere - The story of a little village that changes into a new town, told in words, projected images and song, devised by people of all ages from Nailsea & Backwell.

Pill ~ Meet on the Green - A fete of scenes, stories and incidents from Pill’s seafaring past, with live music, dance, sea shanties and a Maypole, performed on the village green.

Yatton, Claverham, Cleeve and Congresbury ~The Hill - A contemporary Mummer’s Play with song, live music, dance and willow art installations, performed atop Cadbury Hill by the ‘four tribes’ of Yatton, Claverham, Cleeve and Congresbury.

Weston-super-mare ~ The Visit - A surreal multimedia comedy made by vulnerable adults in which three aliens from the Planet Silica land in Weston and wonder: do I belong here… and do I want to?

Hewish & Puxton ~ Whispers in the Wind - A journey into the magical landscape of Somerset to unlock the stories contained in an ancient apple ritual, told in poetry, story and song. "A magical night with a timeless, other-worldly atmosphere" Venue on Jane Flood's Whispers in the Wind

Clevedon ~ Changing Faces - Waves of colour, sound, poetry, mime and music performed on Clevedon’s historic seafront.

Weston Bournville ~ Bournville Becomes Electra - A contemporary Greek tragedy exploring ancient themes of conflict, loss and identity, devised by young mothers from the Bournville estate.

Portishead ~ The Whispering Post - A timeless tale of love, betrayal and longing for a lost past created by fourteen writers from the community.
