Culture Weston

Theatre Orchard leads Culture Weston, a partnership-led initiative that places culture at the heart of Weston-super-Mare’s daily life and future growth:

Why we’re here

We work in partnership with communities throughout North Somerset, supporting pride of place and emotional and physical well-being through a wide-ranging, dynamic and inclusive programme of live and digital activity, from large scale outdoor festivals to online workshops.

Our thriving programme of engagement activities, including the Open Door adult drama group, Youth Theatre and Chapter One creative writing group has expanded through Covid-19 to offer a digital platform of creativity, keeping people and places more connected than ever – opening hearts and minds to the life-affirming spirit of live arts.

If you’d like to know more, do drop us a line – we’d love to hear from you.

Our mission

To grow an ambitious and playful creative culture in North Somerset through professional performance, artist development and community engagement.

To connect with all people in places and spaces from the every day to the extraordinary.

To make people feel happy, enriched and valued throughout our work.

To bring life stories from local places and the wider world to support local communities and expand horizons.

Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy

At Theatre Orchard we are committed to the safe welfare of children and young people in all the work we do. Our dedicated team is trained in the latest safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure that every experience we offer children as part of our creative programme of events, outreach and engagement upholds safe practice within safe places.

You can contact us at info@theatreorchard.org.uk with any queries or concerns and for more information on the latest policies surrounding child safety, visit www.nspcc.org.uk

Green statement

We believe that the arts community can inspire and provoke conversations around climate change, and we have appointed a Green Champion to ensure that this commitment is at the forefront of our work.

At Theatre Orchard we share North Somerset’s bold vision of achieving a rapid reduction in carbon emissions and will aim to showcase a greener future in everything we do from our own work practices to an inspirational low carbon arts programme.

We have a vision of North Somerset as a county built around sustainable values where residents and visitors alike can benefit from clean air, thought provoking experiences and a deeper connection to nature.

Volunteering

We work hard to deliver our creative programme of events, outreach and engagement, but we would struggle without the generosity of our wonderful volunteers. It’s the perfect way to give something back to the community whilst stock piling a whole host of memorable experiences.

If you would like to get involved as a Volunteer with Theatre Orchard, we would truly love to hear from you!
