Led by our Engagement Manager and acclaimed theatre practitioner, Angela Athay-Hunt, Theatre Orchard offers an inspiring programme of varied activities to keep you uplifted all year round.

Participation opportunities vary in scale from stand alone, bespoke workshops to larger projects where communities co-create work with professional artists.

COVID-19 and Theatre Orchard’s Engagement work

In the light of the current COVID-19 guidance, we have sadly but inevitably postponed all live events and face-to-face activity as safeguarding the health and well-being of communities, practitioners and artists is our primary concern right now.

However, a collective spirit of creativity and co-operation remains buoyant! We are doubly aware of the impact of social isolation and reduced human contact on wellbeing and we are reimagining programmes digitally wherever possible. Theatre Orchard’s wider engagement programme will move to regular digital meet-ups, plus a range of bespoke sessions posted online to get you writing, singing, dancing and acting from your homes!

Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy

At Theatre Orchard we are committed to the safe welfare of children and young people in all the work we do. Our dedicated team is trained in the latest safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure that every experience we offer children as part of our creative programme of events, outreach and engagement upholds safe practice within safe places.

You can contact us at info@theatreorchard.org.uk with any queries or concerns and for more information on the latest policies surrounding child safety, visit www.nspcc.org.uk

Arts + Health

Theatre Orchard has been running arts engagement sessions towards health and well-being in Weston-super-Mare for 13 years. We are delighted to have supported the instigation of a social prescribing role on Weston’s South Ward, enabling a 3-year pilot scheme that will assess the impact of creativity on individuals, communities and the health sector.

Weekly free drama sessions have been running on Weston’s South Ward since February 2019, and whilst these are part of the locality’s social prescribing service, they are also available to all and is supplemented by a range of bespoke multi-arts projects throughout the year.

We work hard to deliver our creative programme of events, outreach and engagement, but we would struggle without the generosity of our wonderful volunteers. It’s the perfect way to give something back to the community whilst stock piling a whole host of memorable experiences.

If you would like to get involved as a Volunteer with Theatre Orchard, we would truly love to hear from you!

Thank you to our funders for their invaluable support of Theatre Orchard’s engagement work.
